You are currently browsing the category archive for the 'Who Moved to Oregon in 2007?' category.

United Van Lines’ 31st Annual 2007 Migration Study reports that Oregon ranked as the 3rd most popular destination to move. The top spot went to the South, specifically North Carolina. Nevada ranked #2, Oregon and Washington D.C. are almost tied at #3. Oregon has sustained this high in-bound traffic since the company started reporting in 1986. It comes as no surprise to me that we rank that high consistently. New York, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Ohio had the highest out-bound traffic.

“Home is always open arms.” - Jane R. Neuman

More than 20% of Oregon’s population has moved from out-of-state over the last 10 years. In addition, the state projects that almost 100,000 people between the ages of 40-79 will relocate to the Portland metro area within the next 10 years.

WHAT STATE ARE YOU FROM?

According to the latest Census report, most Oregon residents were born elsewhere in the United States. Of the 1,556,490 Oregonians, here is a listing of the top 10 states of origin:

  • California (443,276)
  • Washington (190,295)
  • Idaho (57,069)
  • Illinois (51,016)
  • Texas (48,934)
  • New York (44,453)
  • Minnesota (41,867)
  • Colorado (35,649)
  • Montana (33,729)
